All the buttons you need, together with a Screen, to program the instrument, are all there in front of you. So you realy done a good job with this software and even if it wouldn't import the old patches as excellent as it does, for me it'd still be a great synth since I rather program new sounds and use all the new possibilities than importing old 80s patches. Oh yeah you also have to load C++ runtimes on your computer to run it! Wondering whether its more simple just to put patches in via tape, if one can get them. It's capable of a good string, bass and droney-pad sound as well as industrial sound-effects and metallic like sounds. Not so much to create metallic sounds, but actually more to create warm pads and bass patches.
I definitely agree on throwing on some warm saturation to add even more character. I have used it many times in conjunction with Cubase via 'MidiSport 2x2'. That's a lot of flying! One of my colleagues where I used to work did some work for Yamaha back then and assured me this was so. Criticism of gear based on its sound, features, etc is ok. I guess I will work that out sooner or later.

Richard Jan 20 2015 The original is like that though, sort of like a modelling synth you expect to find weird sounds, it would never be a goto performance synth where you want to tweak dials on the fly as small changes cause radical sound alteration. There has definitely been quite a stir in the industry around analog synthesizers in recent years that has even led me to lust after multiple of those instruments over and over again.
