The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic. There is no warning, errors or codes. The truck will then run fine for a while and then it occurs again. Basically the engine was shot. Now according to mechanic this is an ongoing problem with Dodge.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the failure. I am getting 25 - 27 miles to the gallon around town and 30 miles to the gallon on the highway. The recall for Mitsubishi started on June 24, 2015. On the fourth recurrence of the failure the contact was involved in a crash and the front fender was damaged. High pressure fuel sprayed inside of engine compartment. Took back to dealer and was told Dodge is aware of problem but has no fix. I feel I was very lucky that the fuel did not ignite or the whole vehicle would definitely of caught on fire and the out come would of been catastrophic for my family that was in the vehicle.
Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The vehicle became engulfed into flames and the fire department extinguished the fire. Just took the paper plates off of this truck,. Still ran good tho, dispite the exact conditions you describe on Cold Start up. Interesting enough, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram that has over 307,000 miles on it and never had this problem. The approximate failure mileage was 46,227. The contact noticed that the head of the bolts that were attached to the exhaust manifold fractured. The cam sensor along with other parts were replaced in order to repair the vehicle. I have read several complaints about this year and model of this vehicle having the same issue with the number 4 fuel line but no other fuel lines on this model.
