I am attempting resolve under the lemon law but want this issue addressed for public safety. Poor low speed transmission shifts. Both are made by Johnson Controls anyway. I think I even have a spare in the truck 'just in case'. May not be related but wanted to mention that the air compressor, alternator, fuel pump and fuel injectors were replaced.
Right know the car is stuck on park. Delayed acceleration poses grave safety risks to occupants when attempting to accelerate for turn, start,etc. I really think it's the spilled coffee. This issue is usually associated with seemingly slipping in drive, and the gear indicator not working, or displaying incorrectly on the dash. Consumer was provided with a loaner car of the same make and model, and it did exactly the same thing.
Of course, I don't tend to sit for days on end without driving. Sunday when I was driving home from OktRoverFest my alternator partially died so it was only putting out a little power; I was mostly running on my battery which was slowly dropping. Cheap part, easy fix at dealer, however almost completely debilitating when it happens as vehicle may not be able to engage at all. When it does appear, it's on for a second, then gone. Oh, and I have replaced the battery, but that didnt fix anything either.
I like Odyssey batteries for the most part, but their big group 31 has some unique charging requirements that make it a poor choice for the Rovers. If you have a trickle charger, try putting that on overnight occasionally to bring it up to full. So my husband will not take it back to the dealer not unless it is a must. But that one seems to move around a little bit. Computer sensor for shifter bad. Looked like a factory job. The engine warning light came back that same day.
Then something weird i thought and turned of the lights and wow the transmission works fine. Then consumer tried to put it in drive, and the transmission was locked. Phil, I was singing to the tune of the Beastie Boys Sabotage which Group Love sang during the concert. A police report was filed. Let us know what that is - it should be about 12.
I couldn't get the gear out of Park. Im sure stopping and restarting the engine traveling down the highways isnt a great choice, but it seems to work. The loaner car stalled at a stop sign, and then restarted right away, but there was a problem with the throttle, and the problem was repaired. Thanks for reading and your feedback in advance! Refilled the diff and will need to have the seal replaced in the near future. It was bleeding green corrosion out of both ends of the shrink tube, and it looked to almost be burnt up inside.
A full scan of the systems should present some trouble codes that can point you to the problem. Thanks Again, my vote is battery. I could not find a review of the 2006 model yet. You are welcome to come to check and test drive vehicle. Also, be sure the connector housing and switch ends to the brake switch are really clean of carbon build up, since that code came up for you.
I know this is my first post and this is an old thread but I wanted to say thanks for this post over all the others!! I hope you will handle it. My complaint is principally that Land Rover will not sympathize with me on the fact that because of such a safety hazard that their relevant recalls should extend until the system is fixed properly and not just until the warentee is over. Getting estimates at this time to see if worth repairing or selling. That sounds a lot like what you were describing earlier. I agree with you Ron - it's the coffee.
