I have emailed Ford motor company and they responded saying that because the vehicle was out of warranty and there were no recalls or customer satisfaction programs it would not be fixed by Ford. Spark Plugs Eject From Aluminum Heads of Triton Engine August 23, 2017 Ford Triton engines are spitting out spark plugs like sunflower seeds, but the suits in Detroit act like there isn't any problem. I removed that section of the liner. While driving 65 mph on the highway, the spark plugs stripped out of the engine block. It's a 20 minute job for any shadetree mechanic. The dealer said it would take 3 hours of labor to fix because the spark plugs aren't on top.
Spark Plugs Popping Out Of Aluminum Heads A couple theories exist on why spark plugs in Fords are ejecting from the their cylinders. This indicates to me that a sudden failure of an internal engine seal, gasket, manifold, etc. How do you plan on stayin in business when your breaking the hard working American People!!! I placed the truck in drive and heard a pop and then a continued rhythmic popping. While it's a minor annoyance compared to transmission failure, ironically the crack usually goes right through the Ford logo. The entire cam drive timing chain, sprockets, tensioners had been ground up. Bernie: The vehicle was brought to us for an engine misfire and we actually, I just as another side note a couple weeks previously we did some repairs on the engine, there was a ticking noise in the engine, we did some repairs on that so we, anyways two weeks later the engine came back, it had a misfire.
The spark plug had blown completely out of the head and broke the ignition coil attached to the spark plug wire. The dealer has not explained what caused the failure. I can easily change 4 out of 6, the other 2 on the passenger side are just behind a tube that comes off the air filter which can be removed. Immediately, there was an abnormal air pressure release sound. I believe Ford should have done a recall or should compensate owners who had to pay large sums to repair this problem - Kathleen O. How To Prevent Spark Plugs Ejecting From the Engine So what are your out of warranty options? Apparently this is a common problem,so common that they have a kit thats a qwik fix. It only took about 30 minutes to do the entire job and was very easy to do.
You change the plug and you are good another 2000 to 3000 miles. Unfortunately I don't trust the truck now as I bought it to pull my camper and am concerned over being stranded. A thirty dollar HeliCoil kit can do the trick if installed correctly with a good loctite compound installed on the threads of the repair insert. They did a re-thread and installed helicoil. For more room on the passenger side, I loosened up the air intake tubing clamps at the air box and throttle body, then rotated the air intake tubing upside down laying it on top of the valve cover and out of the way. This needs to be addressed and a recall from Ford needs to be issued.
We've owned the truck for just about 3 years now. As the mechanic indicated above, an inexpensive HeliCoil kit will usually do the trick — but. They are just screwing the customer. It needs to be taken care of before someone gets killed, not after. All you need is a ratchet, socket and a couple of extensions to get the job done. I opened the hood and could tell air was coming from the 4 cylinder.
The truck started making noise and thought that it was the converter and a very short time after that first noise the engine froze and stopped running. No dollar figure given on amount to fix. They fix it every time by having to replace the coil pack and spark plug, along with having to re-tap the head. I would say that if your vehicle can burn to the ground in a matter of minutes, it is a safety problem. I have searched the internet and have found that there are thousands of these engines with this problem.
Of course, there will be no apology or retribution to the common citizen of the United States, therefore I urge every single American to honk their horns when they pass Ford and maybe they will recall the garbage they sold us! Thank you for your consideration. All in all i have to say that this is the worse vehicle that ever got assembled. This happened on a residential street at low speed. Once the fuel is ignited, it causes combustion, which in turn causes the pistons to rotate up and down and power the engine. I never heard of or had spark plugs blow out my engines before. The head was remilled and the plug and coil had to be replaced.
The have eight coils that sit on top the valve covers. Their really was not alot of time from noise to failure of engine. I changed all 6 of mine without ever removing anything except for the spark plugs. Bad or weak spark plugs can cause the engine to misfire and will lead to increased fuel consumption. This is just 1 of the many problems. Ford suggests installing Lock-N-Stitch thread inserts in the heads. Should I replace the wires? I also changed the wire set as well.
. The contact stated that the spark plugs were blowing out of the engine while driving various speeds. That indicates there is a defect, whether in the design or the manufacturing process, from the start. Ford should be ashamed of the way they hang their customers out to dry. If the failure had happened at that intersection, the failure would have probably resulted in severe injuries or loss of life. To my surprise I saw that the 1st sparkplug out of its socket n the holder was busted.
